Some reasons why relocating in Grapevine may make a lot of sense for you and your family ...
|
Grapevine is a charming and historic Tarrant County town that is bordered completely on the north by Grapevine Lake, one of the most beautiful and popular lakes in the metroplex. Its proximity to the lake and to DFW International Airport caused Grapevine's population to grow rapidly during the 1980s and 1990s and probably was a major reason Gaylord Hotels picked Grapevine to be the home of its recently opened, and now soon to be expanded, 1,500 room Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center.
First settled in 1844, Grapevine got its name from the wild grapes that grew throughout the then heavily-wooded countryside. Over the years, as the land in the area was cleared for farming, the wild grapes and the grapevines on which they grew disappeared. The legacy of this area, however, was not forgotten. In the 1990s a number of vineyards were established in Grapevine and the town's residents began holding two annual wine festivals that have become great events for discovering and enjoying the variety of high quality wines produced in Texas. These types of events are just some of the reasons Grapevine recently was named by D Magazine as one of the best places to live in the Dallas area.
